NEW YORK CITY: day two

January 26

Staten Island ferry
***

We may have eaten here 2 times in 2 days. Ok, we did eat here twice in 2 days.
Day two of our adventures in NY consisted of a ferry ride to Staten Island. The ferry was a must. We saw the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline. It was beautiful and rainy yet so warm. But to be honest once we got to Staten Island,  we had no idea what to do over there so we just explored a little and took the ferry back (it was free!) After that little adventure, we took the subway to find Co. we were looking around for this little restaurant for about an hour, even though it was hard to find, we ate there and it was easily the best pizza I have ever had. I wanted to go back but my mom said we had to try new places... That night for dinner we went to the famous Shake Shack. Yum I loved it. I am very picky when it comes to hamburgers but I died. their fries are also da bomb. Ok I am just going to throw this out there... we splurged... big time. this. whole. trip.

*** Here is my little tip of the day: I was always hesitant to wear hats because I never wanted hat hair. Then I read in Elle Mag that if you part your hair on the opposite side you usually do then put your hat on, when you take your hat off and flip your hair back to its normal part, it is not nearly as bad! I tried it out this weekend and I works. I took my hat on and off the whole day without looking like a napster.

NEW YORK CITY: day one

January 25

our flight there=death. I hate turbulance.
Grand Central Station
Empire State Building
The cool and mysterious corner
Home from New York! It was absolutely amazing. I loved it there so much! By the end of each day, I would not even be able to feel my feet. I really think that they were bruised on the bottom. We did so much walking. Walking to and from the subway, to and from shops, around central park and so much more. I think that we did everything possible that you can do in ny in 5 days. We saw so many sites and found the best shopping! Sorry for the overload of pics you will see on this blog over the next few days, there is just so much for me to share!

The day we got there, January 25 was my birthday. We flew into Jersey and took a shuttle to our hotel. We unpacked our things and headed right out to the city. We went to a birthday dinner for me. I also ate my first bite of sugar in 25 days. My chocolatey chocolate cake was worth every bite. After our little dinner we walked to Grand Central Station. I read somewhere that if you talk into one of the four corners of GCS you can hear the person talking to you from the other side so for my birthday, my mom sang to me through the wall. It was so crazy! We also got Magnolia bakery cupcakes. One of many trips we took there. Once we had our cupcakes, we headed to the Empire State Building and went to the very top. It was such a thrill and almost kind of scary being all the way up there, but it was so amazing at night. We walked back to our hotel which was very close to Times Square.
love love love nyc.

I am a child of God... and so are YOU

1.29.2012
Each of us is a beloved son or daughter of heavenly parents. Our Heavenly Father knows us personally and loves us (Psalm 82:6; Hebrews 12:9).

During the busy week it can be hard to stop and remember who we are. It is easy to get caught up in our  busy schedules of waking up early for school to working late. On top of that, we have list after list of things we need to do. Far to often we forget who we are... We are Children of God. We have a plan. We have a purpose. No matter what stage of life you are in, God loves you! You are his Child and He is rooting for you. He wants you to succeed! This week take time to thank your Heavenly Father for the opportunities you have been given, and for the people in your life. I know that we are each children of God. He really does love you, and will do anything for you. I am so grateful that I have a family who loves me and will do anything for me! I know that my Heavenly Father is there and is looking out for us and is guiding and directing us to things that will bring true happiness! I know that I am a Child of God and So are You!

P.S. Karli is now eighteen years old She was born January 25, 1994.Be sure to wish her a happy birthday! This was the picture I chose to embarrass  Karli and yet, she still looks cute...not fair!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARLI WE LOVE YOU!!

Fun Buns

1.23.2012
LoLa and Gray being bun models.
Here are some more random pictures of Lo and Gray after the sock bun photoshoot yesterday. Aren't they just so cute?  I hope your weekend was a good one! Mine was, until I got a speeding ticket. But I did have friends and sisters visit for a sunday birthday dinner/cupcake party!
Ok also, my new favorite tv show... Jane by Design. I love it! It is totally cheesy in some parts, but I love the fact that the main girl Jane has a fashion internship in NY. Totally awesome. She also has a hot best friend Billy. I love him.
I hope my random bits of information are useful to some of you! Thanks for reading!
cheers, ciao, xoxo

Sock Bun Part II

1.22.2012

1:: Take a sock and cut the toe off.
2:: Roll the sock up like a donut.
3:: Put the sock at the end of your pony tail and start
rolling it down tucking the hair in the sock as you go.
4:: Roll until you reach your head.
5:: Take the bun and pin it to your head.
6:: Voila... there you have it. You are ready to rock it in public.
Don't forget to hair spray it so it looks classy.

Thanks Gray for being my model!

have a lovely and lazy weekend

1.20.2012

haha...
First semester is finally over. As I left the school today, I almost cried with joy when I realized I don't have to lift another weight in weights class again. Why I took that class is beyond me (ok it was so I could graduate) but it is over now and I couldn't be happier. I feel like reenacting the picture up there... yes, that would be all too lovely.

Here is my little tip of the day: When you apply your mascara, bring the lashes in toward the corner of your eye to make your eye look bigger. Random, but it really works!

xoxo my friends. Thanks for reading!

Oil Painting by Rachael

1.12.2012

I was lucky enough to have Rachael Lofgran paint my picture this year. I seriously almost started crying when I saw the finished product. She did an amazing job and I think that it looks like a photograph. I have always wanted to be a painter but we will leave it to those who actually can! Thank you so much Rachael! You are so talented!

Milk Maid Fishtail Braid

1.11.2012

Step one: take a small (or large, depending what you like) portion of your hair just above your ear on the opposite side of your part.
Step two: braid that section of hair (regular or fish tail... I did a fishtail) secure with a clear elastic... or any other color, no one is really going to see it.
Step three: Bring that braid over to the other side of your head and pin it just above your ear, or below depending on how long your hair is.

TIPS:  If you part your hair in the middle, chose whatever side you want to start on. Also, if your hair is not long enough to reach the other side, do a braid on each side and have them overlap in the middle (pin with bobby pins of course) so it looks like one full braid!

Today is day nine with no sugar and I am going CRAZY!!
Thank goodness for sugar free jello.
Much love to all you readers! xo

I have a thing for..

1.09.2012
BIG SCARVES!

But... who doesn't?! They are so cozy and everyone looks like a superstar when they wear them. I like my scarves with either a big sweater or tucked under my pea coat but the options are endless so rock it how you choose :)

Also love the sunglasses

Thank you for reading along!

Purple Shampoo for blondes

1.08.2012

I had my hair done recently and my hairdresser gave me a tip on how to get the best use out of this shampoo. It is meant to strip your (blonde) hair of any brassy tones and give it a more shiny look. She told me that if you mix this shampoo with a bit of conditioner, it will really make the blonde stand out much more than if you just use the shampoo itself. But if you blondes try this, make sure to only do it once a week and to only keep it in for a minute and a half or less and rinse it out well or it can be damaging. I love this and have definitely noticed a difference since I added the conditioner!
Sorry I don't have any color tips for other colors of hair, I have just spent my life being a blonde...

Senior Pictures

1.03.2012

Thanks to Devan Rae I got my senior pictures taken! I am so excited to graduate high school and to start onto the next chapter of my life. Like my art teacher reminded me today, only six months, one week and a day until graduation!
The weather is nice here in PC. . .  A little too nice. Some snow would be appreciated?! maybe even a cloud or two? It is not supposed to be this warm in January (which is the best month of the year)!!

Happy New Year!

1.02.2012

Welcome to 2012! I hope everybody's New Years was a great one! I am very excited for what this year has to offer. Bring it TWENTY TWELVE!
