Easter weekend!

4.24.2011
Happy Easter Weekend!

This friday i got my wisdom teeth out. It was rough! They put me out which was good. I don't even remember anything about it! All i know is that my cheeks are swollen and i just hope they are back to normal before Prom this saturday!

We woke up this morning and had an Easter Egg Hunt! I love having a six year old sister so that we can still do stuff like that:) but lets be honest... I would want to have one anyway even if she was older!

My Easter Basket
I made a chocolate cake from scratch today but... I messed it up! I thought it tasted weird because my taste buds are messed up from the surgery... so I took it out early. i thought it was a lost cause but my mom tried it after i took it out of the oven and said that it tasted so good, but it was already ruined because it fell flat! I was sad.

So i had to redeem  myself:

I made a cake from a box. not near as good!

p.s. we were having our family weekly discussion tonight and we were talking about attitude. We read a great article that talked all about how attitude is all your choice. I really liked this qoute from the article:

"There is little difference in people, but that little difference
makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big
difference is whether it is positive or negative.

-W. Clement Stone

Hope you all had a great weekend! thanks for Keeping up with Kar!

today...

I am grateful for my Momma. Every morning, for as long as i can remember, she wakes up and makes lunches for me and my three sisters. She is superwoman. (i have four sisters, but one is in college:)

I loved my seminary class, since it is Easter this sunday, we had a lesson on the Savior. I am so greatful for all of the things that my Savior has done for me. I love Easter weekend and the fact that we can reflect on the Savior, and acknowledge the price he paid for each one of us to come to this earth.

I literally started crying in my current issues class when we saw a video of children who have fathers in war, it showed a few dads who went home for a day to surprise their kids. The little kids were so surprised/happy and they ran up to their dads and gave them the biggest hugs ever. Some of them even cried. that was when i cried... (kinda embarrassing, i have never cried in class before haha)

I am sad/scared to lose my wisdom (teeth) tomorrow.

I wish i didn't have this cold any more.

One of the girls in AP art drew me and a friend for the art show at our school... we had to hold still for an hour and a half! It was fun though.

I am excited for EARTH DAY tomorrow!!

A few tips on how to save our earth :)
  • Turn the lights off... better yet, don't turn them on! (unless absolutely necessary :)
  • Recycle all that you can
  • Go paperless (even at school?)
  • Limit the length of your shower
  • Don't leave the water running when you are brushing your teeth
  • Pick up someone else's trash
  • Ride a bike somewhere instead of drive.

one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.

I was talking to this awesome girl today in one of my classes, she said that whenever she is down, she eats a spoonfull of nutella and she carries it around with her everywhere she goes. how cool is that! I need a pick me up... Maybe mine would be chocolate cake? I wish i could carry some of that around with me every where I went. I will try to think of something as cool as carrying around a jar of nutella. I was inspired!

Zions-Park

4.15.2011
Today was one of those days where everything that was said, was so hilarious. My sisters and I were so hyper! I think it all started when me and Rae got hit on by a old creep in the grocery store. Haha we could not stop laughing after that (we were scared). We went to the park and played frisbee and did random trust falls. It was so warm out and it was such a great afternoon with the family.

We blew some bubbles in the park also.

Yesterday, we went to Zions National Park. We hiked to a way cool waterfall called Emerald Pools. We hiked behind the falls and it was so pretty! we also attempted Angels Landing (a 5 mile hike straight up a mountain), that one didn't work out. Maybe it will another time?

The tall mountain is Angels Landing, the hike we attempted.

I love Spring Break! I don't want to go back to real life!

kite flying days

4.14.2011

They don't call it hurricane (the place we are staying) for no reason. Yesterday was one of the windiest days that i have ever seen. I have been wanting to fly a kite for the longest time, and it seemed like the perfect day to do it. It was almost too windy, but we waited until it died down just a bit then we went on the sand hollow golf course and flew the kites. It was so fun! AJ kept saying "This is the best day ever!" haha. I am surprised that our 5 dollar Wal Mart kites held up. This is the first of many kite flying days that i will have :)

Sunsets and silhouettes are my favorite kinds of photoshoots. We snuck onto the golf course right by our condo to take these ones.
This one was my absolute favorite out of them all!
I love my jumping photoshoots

It was a very great and warm day here in st. george today... Shopping, lunch and photoshoots... does it get any better?

Jam the River

4.10.2011
This weekend was Jam the River at River Woods. They had a lot of singers come (Sugar Ray, Megan Joy(american idol), Allred). Me and some friends went to a few of the concerts. Besides the freezing weather, it was a lot of fun! Jimmer was a surprise guest there and i was so excited!

Concerts at the River Woods

I promise this is Jimmer, the quality is way bad because the lights were bright
and it was on m phone... sorry!

Saturday was my last fashion show for Allyse's Bridal.

Poloroids.

4.06.2011
The summer after my freshman year i became obsessed with anything vintage.  Our family spends most of our summer at our cabin in northern idaho. They have a lot of prime thrift shops up there. That same summer, my cousin Kait and I went thrifting as often as we could.

When I came back, after 2 months, I decided to decorate my room with the vintage items that I bought from all the shops.
I was pleased with my purchases :)

Last summer, we went to this huge antique sale. It is called the Vintage Barn Sale. A ton of vintage vendors got together and set up booths in a huge field. I was in heaven! We stayed for hours and i still didn't want to leave.

*I found these magazines at the Vintage barn sale.
They are both from 1936.
All of the pictures inside are sketches. love.

Top left: a photo of me and my sisters.
Top right: My stack of teen vogue (ha not vintage...)
and my poloroid camera that i also bought at the vintage barn.
Bottom left: The beginning of my collection of gold mirrors.
Bottom right: in love with peacock feathers... and another gold mirror.

A poloroid of my poloroid :)

Snow in April??

4.04.2011

Our conference tradition.
Monday afer school.
This describes utahs weather...
half winter half spring.

On sunday I woke up to 5 inches of snow. I don't really understand why it is snowing in April?!  But it was still a beautiful day because the sun was still shining and we had General Conference. I always love listening to what our Prophet has to say... and we get my mom's amazing cinnamon rolls. It was a great and relaxing conference weekend!
